PURCHASING COORDINATOR
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN
-WORLD HEADQUARTERS- HYBRID

As a member of the Purchasing team, the Purchasing Coordinator will be responsible to assist buyers in negotiating agreements with global suppliers using fact based & cost modeling approaches.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Processing sensitive documentation as part of setting up vendors in Lear's internal purchasing system (Coupa)
  • Building relationships with stakeholders and understanding Lear internal customer business needs
  • Coupa proficiency:
    • Analyzing transaction history, spend data, vendor trends
    • Extracting data for report-outs, summarizing in a clear/concise manner for buyers & leadership
  • Processing Coupa contracts on behalf of buyers - managing contracts through the Coupa Contracts module as negotiations are completed
  • Tracking contracts approaching expiration, particularly IT agreements, to assure visibility of software renewal needs and/or renewals for all contracted services
  • Assisting in reporting purchasing savings/cost avoidance

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or another related business field
  • Requires minimum 1-2 years working experience in a Commodity Buyer capacity within automotive, but we are open to entry level candidates with internship experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite
  • Superior conflict resolution skills and relationship management
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills
  • Key competencies for success in position include:
    • Negotiating principles/skills
    • Priority setting and time management
    • Strong communication skills
    • High level integrity

Bonus If You Have:

  • Automotive cross-functional experience
  • Previous experience using ERP systems - Coupa preferred
