The UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician. The candidate will work with Dr. Hua Zhang in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology and will carry out experiments identifying new therapeutic vulnerabilities to overcome drug resistance in lung cancer, as well as establishing new immunocompetent mouse models for lung cancer and utilizing them to study the therapeutic efficacy and mechanisms of novel combination of targeted therapy with immunotherapy. The candidate must be a highly motivated individual competent with basic molecular techniques. Experience and comfort working with mice is highly preferred, but not required if the candidate is willing to learn on the job. Additional experience in analyzing large datasets and computer programming skills is desirable, but not required as training can be provided. Good communication skills, and willingness to work as part of a team are mandatory. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
Job requires integrity, reliability, excellent manual dexterity and steadiness, good visual ability, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
