DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Accountant 3, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day accounting functions. Your responsibilities include supervising, training, and developing staff, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions in areas such as cash receipts, purchasing, cash disbursements, and member payroll and benefits. The position involves reviewing and implementing effective accounting systems, maintaining compliance with GAAP and GASB standards, and participating in legislative and regulatory reviews.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week (anticipated). In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Accountant 2; or
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.
  • Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation. A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
