THE POSITION

Are you eager to move into a more complex Information Technology (IT) support and administrative role? The Health and Human Services (HHS) IT Delivery Center provides end-to-end IT services to all staff in the Department of Human Services (DHS), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA). We are seeking a skilled IT professional to join our team as an Information Technology Generalist 2. This position gives you the opportunity to collaborate with management and upper-level technical staff on project planning, execution, monitoring, and close-out initiatives across the HHS Delivery Center. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The duties of this position are in support of HHS Delivery Center (DHS, DOH, DDAP, PDA, and DMVA) applications. There are currently over 340 applications across the Delivery Center. You will be coordinating application releases with supervisor, team lead, development teams, upper-level technical staff, managers, and division chiefs across domains and agencies. You will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and automating Release Management workflow processes and procedures for use by lower level technical and Release and Change Management staff to process and document release requests for audit purposes. You will have the opportunity to work with staff to improve efficiencies, effective responses, and support to complete Release Management workload in a timely manner following SQA processes and procedures. Additional duties may include:

  • Reviewing program software development packages and program implementation packages for compliance with established Delivery Center standards
  • Implementing and verifying program software in the QA production software libraries
  • Filing program documentation in the HHS DC Software and Documentation Library
  • Routinely monitoring and recording Release Management standard processes and procedures for the development of software application systems
  • Documenting configuration management information
  • Updating and maintaining the Implementation Runway, and Application Inventory

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Free parking.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. You will be required to report in-office at least one day per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Information Technology Generalist 1, Applications Developer 1, or Network Specialist 1; or
  • Four years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or
  • Two years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • A bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
