What success looks like in this role:

Overview:

Unisys has been providing IBM mainframe managed services to its clients since 1989. Unisys is seeking an experienced Senior Enterprise Analyst with expertise in mainframe operations, specifically with VSAM and the PCS scheduler, to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a background in mainframe systems management, with a strong preference for experience with z/OS or VSE. The role involves monitoring and maintaining critical mainframe systems, handling incident reports, managing requests, and ensuring seamless operations of mainframe infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage both production and test mainframe systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Perform CICS transaction monitoring and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Schedule and execute batch jobs efficiently, ensuring timely processing and minimal disruptions.
  • Report and document incidents, including root cause analysis and resolution steps, in accordance with established protocols.
  • Handle user requests and inquiries related to mainframe operations, providing timely and effective support.
  • Monitor storage utilization and performance, taking proactive measures to optimize resources as needed.
  • Manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) processes to ensure secure access to mainframe systems.
  • Generate and maintain audit reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Perform TCP cycling as necessary to maintain system integrity and stability.
  • Restore dynamic files and output from previous runs from tape backups as required.
  • Manage EPIC (Enterprise Performance Improvement Console) and assist with EPIC-related tasks.
  • Reboot servers as needed to address performance issues or apply updates.
  • Monitor and manage mailbox systems to ensure timely communication and response to critical messages.
  • Assist with disaster recovery (DR) tests and exercises to validate system resilience and recovery procedures.
  • Monitor the RightFax system and address any issues or errors promptly to ensure reliable fax communications.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • University degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mainframe operations
  • Experience with mainframe operating systems, including z/OS and VSE, and familiarity with CICS.
  • Strong knowledge of mainframe tools and utilities such as FAQS/PCS, FAVER II, MASTERCAT, VSNPCPS, and TMON.
  • Proficiency in incident management tools like ServiceNow for efficient incident reporting and tracking.
  • Familiarity with storage monitoring tools and techniques to optimize storage resources.
  • Experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM) processes and procedures.
  • Ability to generate and interpret audit reports for compliance and security purposes.
  • Familiarity with tape backup systems and procedures for restoring files and data.
  • Knowledge of EPIC management and administration preferred.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
