In your role as a Police Communications Operator (PCO) at the Pennsylvania State Police, you will be responsible for handling calls from the public and 911 operators, both for emergency and non-emergency situations. Your duties will include questioning callers to gather information, determining the necessary response, and prioritizing incidents accordingly. You will also be responsible for dispatching information to Troopers and coordinating with other emergency services as needed. Additionally, you will utilize various databases such as Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN), the Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET), and Protection From Abuse Database (PFAD) to access and maintain records, as well as inputting incident information into electronic systems. Effective communication with Troopers and other Police Communications Operators is crucial for managing active incidents and addressing any concerns that may arise.
