THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania State Police is seeking a Financial Programs Trainee to participate in a year-long training position which will prepare you to perform professional financial management functions. You will be extensively trained so a thorough knowledge of Commonwealth auditing, accounting, and budgeting guidelines and procedures are developed. Upon successful completion of the trainee program, the candidate will be promoted into a Fiscal Management Specialist 1 position which includes a pay raise. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this role, you will be responsible for aiding in the preparation of the annual Department Budget Request, Appropriation Hearings Request, and Department Rebudget. Additionally, you will be tasked with managing a budgetary database to monitor expenses and generate regular status reports. Another important aspect of the position involves reviewing and approving requisitions to ensure they adhere to current policies and procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in bookkeeping work which included twelve (12) credits in accounting; or
  • A Bachelor's Degree including twelve (12) credits in accounting; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes twelve (12) credits in accounting.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
