Overall Purpose:

The Operations Scheduler is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the incoming work and collaborating with the respective departments to prioritize, coordinate, and schedule the work for the Operations Substation department.

Location: Hybrid, District office or Woods Run Complex in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate work assignment schedules from a global perspective on a 2 to 3 week ahead basis for all Substation field personnel.
  • Work to create consensus on a daily basis between internal customers and field supervision.
  • Lead the development of multi-month work plans that balance available hours with Capital and Non-Capital workload, in partnership with the Senior Manager, Work Scheduling.
  • Receive emergency work, evaluate available resources, and assign work to the most optimum field personnel for immediate action.
  • Utilize Maximo to evaluate Projects, Preventative Maintenance, and Corrective Maintenance work
  • Schedule work according to the Work Plan and weekly/daily availability.
  • Track and update Regulatory Work related to Substation Inspection and Maintenance.
  • Make field visits to monitor the progress associated with construction of work projects.
  • Analyze and recommend overtime requirements by managing work schedules that maintain balance between types of work, work force availability, reliability, cost, and customer commitment.
  • Ensure capital and maintenance work orders are pointed to correct funding project number and are completed in a timely manner.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as engineering, business related field or technical field, required.
  • Minimum of Seven (7) years related experience required.
    • Related work experience includes knowledge of planning/scheduling of work, project management, construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment, and tools which would be used to determine the resources necessary to perform construction and maintenance work activities.

Scope:

Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and workflow and leads projects and/or large project steps. Work is complex in nature, requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Acts independently the majority of the time, requiring guidance in only complex situations. Has well established capabilities, acts as a resource to less experienced staff on moderately complex issues.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires driving to various job sites, many of which areunimproved. Review of the work requires walking and climbing inside energized substations,unimproved sites, on city streets. The environment subjects the incumbent to continuousexposure to construction site dust, dirt, outdoor cold, fumes, liquids, noise, and street traffic.

Hybrid Work

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Storm Roles

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company.Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.


Data Governance

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
