Department OverviewThe IPVideo department designs, engineers, and develops IoT based products for the safety and security industry. The team has developed the HALO and SentryERS products and continues to develop many more to add to the product portfolio. The department includes Cloud Development and Device Development teams. The Cloud Development team is responsible for all the web and mobile application development to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for our customers.Job DescriptionIPVideo is seeking a talented Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the product manager, solution architect and front-end developers to design, implement, and maintain the server-side logic, cloud services, databases, and search engines. This role requires a strong focus on performance, scalability, and seamless integration with internal and external customers, facilitating third-party integration and cloud-to-cloud communications.
Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations
- Design and Implementation: Design, develop, and deploy services, APIs and databases to meet project objectives, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the product manager, solution architect and front-end developers to understand project requirements and translate them into efficient and scalable backend solutions.
- Performance Optimization: Design and maintain services, APIs, databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and optimal performance. Continuously optimize backend code and database queries to improve performance and scalability.
- Integration: Design and implement robust APIs to enable smooth and secure communication between different components of the system and support third-party integrations. Develop solutions for cloud-to-cloud communications, enabling seamless interaction between different cloud platforms.
- Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough testing of backend components, identify, and fix bugs, and ensure the reliability and stability of the system.
- Documentation: Document backend architecture, code, and APIs for internal and external reference.
Desired Background/Knowledge/Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in cloud-based application development using C#/.NET
- Proven experience as a backend developer, with a focus on performance, scalability, and integration.
- Expertise in IoT protocols, standards, and communication technologies.
- Strong understanding of security best practices for IoT and cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities.
- Extensive experience in .NET Core, Entity Framework
- Extensive Experience with the following AWS services & technologies: S3, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, RDS, Kinesis Firehose, AWS Lambda, MQTT, Kafka.
- Solid understanding of software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git), testing methodologies, and agile methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
The base salary range for this position in New York is $120,000 - $150,000 depending on experience.
