As a member of the RHD Legal team, the Corporate Counsel will provide advice and counsel to staff and management of a large non-profit agency on a variety of legal matters germane to the operations of the organization. The successful candidate should demonstrate creativity in crafting legal solutions, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills along with an ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Work with Senior Corporate Counsel to assist in the management and execution of general and specialized work that might be required
  • Support Senior Corporate Counsel with dissemination of information, training and communication of legal information
  • Provide advice and counsel on a broad range of legal topics to include: labor and employment law, contracts, real estate matters, subpoena responses, intellectual property, research compliance and risk management strategies
  • Respond to a wide range of inquiries from all levels of the organization
  • Negotiate and/or assist in the negotiations of labor, contractor, vendor or employee contracts
  • Review, write and/or revise a wide variety of contracts, letters and other legal documents
  • Prepare responses on behalf of the legal department to governmental agencies, funders and other stakeholders by gathering information, through investigation, inquiry, research and other methods
  • Prepare and file government reports
  • Conduct and coordinate legal research

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate required
  • Must be licensed and in good standing in one or more states; PA license preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a corporate law department (desired), law firm or government agency
  • Have general business, commercial and or labor/employment law experience; experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts covering a wide range of commercial relationships;
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence people
  • Ability to quickly engender credibility
  • Experience drafting and negotiating leases preferred
  • Experience working with or for non-profits preferred
