Summary

This an exciting introductory/entry-level role into Dunmore manufacturing! The Assistant Operator will assist Plant Operators in the set-up, turn-around, and operation of defined machinery in the department per specific operating instructions to achieve standard quality and productivity.

Starting Salary: $19.50 Hour plus $1.75 shift differential for hours worked

Quarterly Bonus

Hours: Bi-weekly set schedule 1st week Tues, Wed and Thurs 6pm-6am 2nd week: Monday 10pm-6am, Tues, Wed and Thurs 6pm-6am

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works safely by reviewing, clarifying, following safety rules/procedures; by handling materials and operating equipment with safety as primary objective; by properly segregating waste (solvent, rags, razors, recyclables, etc); sweeping floors, emptying film baler, moving scrap films, cores and skids, and bringing safety risks to management. Associate must receive Dunmore annual hazardous waste training.
  • Ensures quality by studying and complying with manufacturing and customer specifications; fulfilling ISO requirements; ensuring complete and accurate data; inspecting and packing jobs to specs and standards: verifying & recording quality and yields and production transactions (roll tickets, labels, CP, SMP, etc), utilizes roll numbering system.
  • Maximizes profits by assisting operators in meeting/exceeding standards as established for set-ups, clean-ups, waste, yield, productivity; by exceeding standards or customer expectations when possible; by reducing costs through working productively and effectively and by making recommendations to reduce and/or eliminate waste; by staging jobs.
  • Prepares orders for manufacture by assisting operators and other associates in setting up, turnarounds; by staging jobs and ensuring materials, tooling, packing materials are available and ready to maximize productivity; by maintaining machine inventory, checking stock material, tooling, parts, supplies in an orderly, efficient, and cost effective manner and following requisition procedures.
  • Produces/Inspects products by monitoring material quality to specifications, and visually inspecting product throughout process; by filling in for rewind operators throughout a shift, as needed; by packing rolls as defined by customer specifications and by creating labels for inventory/shipping as required.
  • Documents operations by noting order output, material usage, material waste, calculates basic math; reading measuring rule, machine counters, other gauges and apparatuses; filling in required paperwork per department work instructions.
  • Completes operations by obtaining Quality Assurance approval, segregating and or marking rejects; recording and summarizing machine process per department work instructions.
  • Other Duties as needed or required

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

  • Excellent attention to detail, effective written & verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn, to improve processes; to work as part of team with minimum supervision.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Education and Experience

  • Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or warehouse setting is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with machine mechanics and reading & converting ruler measurements is highly preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

  • Standing/Sitting 75/25%
  • Walking/Bending/Stooping: 50%
  • Lifting Requirements: 50 pounds
  • Travel by air, rail, auto (<5% of time)
  • Work in manufacturing area, QA lab and office areas
  • Exposures - Odors, Fumes, Noise, Chemicals, Temperature, Vision strain, Moving parts.
