(NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Senior Design Engineer at its Bethlehem, PA facility.We are seekingaSenior Mechanical Design Engineerwithin our Gardner Engineering team located atBethlehem, PA.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Mechanical design and analysis of very low temperature systems
  • Thermal and structural design components of cryogenic systems
  • Testing and approval of cryogenic components
  • Design and analysis of composite components
  • Manufacturing support of cryogenic systems
  • Failure analysis of cryogenic systems
  • 3 to 7 years of Pressure vessel design and analysis
  • Cryogenic Piping Design and analysis
  • Develop and test/purchase specifications


Education Requirements:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering and MS in Mechanical engineering with graduate courses in design, mechanics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer
  • Excellent physical understanding of analytical methods and results
  • Ability to analyze and design mechanical products
  • Experience with ASME Section VIII Div 1, Div 2, and/or Section XII codes
  • Experience with ASME B31.3 Piping Code
  • Cryogenic design experience a plus
  • Self-motivated, hands on type of personality
  • Flexibility in handling challenging multi-tasking workload
  • Software skills with proficiency in modeling in finite element analysis codes
  • Ability to design for manufacture
  • Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams
