Armstrong World Industries has an internship opportunity for an Environmental, Health and Safety Intern to be located at our headquarters in Lancaster, PA. Under the supervision of our Sr. EHS Manager, the Environmental, Health and Safety Intern will be working on projects with a focus on the improvement of the environmental, health, and safety systems that benefit our company and plants.

Key Responsibilities of the Environmental, Health, and Safety Intern:

  • Supporting the EHS & Facilities team on related process improvement projects
  • Contributing to environmental, health, and safety projects, including:

o Emergency Action Plan update

  • Development of training packages
  • Site Security Plans
  • Injury Management

o Air, Water, and Waste

  • Storage tank related projects
  • Release control projects

o Environmental monitoring and sampling projects

  • Ergonomics
  • Industrial Hygiene

o Lockout and Tagout procedures

  • Audits
  • Utilizing support and guidance of the EHS & Facilities management in order to ensure results achieved directly benefit the organization as well as personal development

Required Qualifications of the Environmental, Health, and Safety Intern:

  • Must be pursuing a degree EHS or related discipline
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, cumulative and within major
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the specific ability to work in teams
  • Capability to build relationships with other functions within the organization
  • Well-developed computer skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to read, comprehend and explain environmental permits, safety compliance documentation, and other technical documents
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions when necessary
  • Must be able to climb ladders and walk catwalks, etc. in order to monitor, direct and validate equipment and installations
  • Must be able to provide own mode of transportation
