Position Summary:

Currently, we have an exciting career opportunity for a part time paid (20-24 hours)EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) Intern position to assist in projects per description below:

Description:

The Co-Op student will report to the EH&S Manager and will be working on job assignments related to their functional EH&S discipline. These increasingly challenging assignments will provide foremost an effective learning assignment and then a sound intellectual and/or financial return for the PCC organization while meeting all federal, state, and local compliance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply principles that he/she has learned in school to hands-on situations, such as process and product design and improvement from an EH&S standpoint
  • Will work with the production hourly workforce to address day-to-day safety concerns
  • Develop & improve material handling issues throughout the facility
  • Work with outside vendors and consultants to eliminate injuries
  • Investigate all facility accidents & injuries to develop corrective actions
  • Help implement periodic inspections for hazardous waste, PPE use, etc.
  • Perform weekly inspections for hazardous waste
  • Identify and recommend process improvements for specified projects relating to EH&S discipline
  • Participate in departmental safety meetings
  • Attend training sessions and other appropriate educational opportunities
  • Review and analyze PPE requirements for the various departments and process related functions
  • Take ownership and responsibility for identified EH&S projects on the production floor
  • Assist in development and refine EH&S and emergency response procedures for the facility
  • Perform job risk analysis for various processes and tasks
  • Perform new hire safety training and orientation
  • Other duties as assigned

Level of Education

  • Full- time student pursuing Bachelor's degree or MBA
  • Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Knowledge of EH&S engineering practices, IH sampling, regulatory compliance for OSHA, EPA, Hazardous Waste, NFPA, etc.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Good writing skills and interpersonal skills
  • Must be ITAR compliant, U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Work Environment

  • Students will spend 50% of their time in the office and 50% on the plant floor

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $20.00 to $24.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. Employees will receive 40 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work or be authorized to receive controlled information under a specific license or permission from the relevant government agency.
