POSITION OVERVIEW
AITC is seeking a Telecommunications Mechanic to repair and maintain network equipment, cabling, and other devices in the field. Periodically conducts routine maintenance on network equipment to ensure network is running optimally.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
* Provide support to integrated communications.
o Products (Equipment, software, and services).
o In Products (Equipment, software and services).
o Integrated communications channels (media).
o Networks and systems.
o Messaging.
o Voice, data, video, and web conferencing.
o Unified communication and collaboration applications as well as IT business applications.
* Perform O&M of the ISP systems and equipment.
o Perform all administrative, O&M functions, and routines required for the telephone switching equipment, voice mail, EVOIP, Telephone Management System (AESD), and ancillary equipment.
o Maintenance, install, test, optimize, and repair telecommunications equipment and systems.
* Support and maintain OSP requirements.
o Provide support to maintain, install, move, or remove all cable, to include copper, coaxial, underground buried, aerial, fiber optic cable and transmission systems equipment.
o Includes all cabling, connectors, terminations, and inner-ducts from point of demarcation to the installation point for the required service to include T-1, ISDN, DS-3, Ethernet, and optical carrier systems.
o Fabricate fiber optic, metallic or coaxial cables as requested on a work order. All cable termination specifications and tolerances will be IAW Electronic Industry Association / Telecommunications Industry Association (EIA/TIA) standards. This includes the Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) of installation pedestals, and manholes or handholes.
o Report any outside plant cabling or equipment issues not meeting Army Standards to the COR in writing immediately after discovery.
* Support customer telephone/data requirements to include:
o Respond to service requests and isolation and repair of telephone troubles.
o Process service orders for all approved moves, adds, and changes requirements.
* Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.
* Additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* ITIL Foundations within 6 months
* SECRET Clearance (Level II) / Ability to obtain Secret Clearance (Level I)
* Must be a US citizen
* Able to work Overtime as required
* Must be available to travel as required
* One of the following (Level I):
o A+ CE
o CCNA-Security
o CND
o Network+ CE
o SSCP
* One of the following (Level II):
o CCNA-Security
o CYSA+
o GICSP
o GSEC
o Security+ CE
o CND
o SSCP
Level I ISP/OSP (Experience & Education) - 4-6 years practical field experience performing aforementioned responsibilities/duties / High School Diploma
Level II ISP (Experience & Education) - 7+ years practical field experience performing aforementioned responsibilities/duties / High School Diploma
PREFERRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
* Knowledgeable in Army Network Enterprise Center operations
* Work experience with Avaya brand switches
* Work experience with NORTEL brand switching nodes
* May require CDL driver's license and heavy equipment operator certs
* BISCI, OEM, Certified Fiber Optic Technician (FOA) (CFOT) certification or similar industry certifications in equipment used to perform job (e.g., tester, splicer, and cabling type(s). TIA 102; EIA 310D; TIA 603C; Bonding Grounding JSTD 607A.
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills (verbal and written)
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Ability to work reliably under minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
* Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and reach.
