The Associate Scientist supports research activities under the direction of a supervisor leading to the development of new products, improved products or better understanding of bioproduction.

Responsibilities

Participates on project teams to advance discovery portfolio projects.
• Presents/defends scientific findings in multi-functional project teams/initiatives Independently designs, analyzes, and interprets experimental results and technical reports, etc.
• Support Molecular Biology experiments for designing expression vectors.
• Protein expression experience in Mammalian and E.coli.
• Basic understanding of Cloning technology.
• Participate in project teams to advance discovery portfolio projects.
• Ability to perform cloning and purify plasmids.
• Support and perform transformation and transfection experiments.
• DNA isolation, quantitative PCR and Western Blotting.
• Research, design, and execute approaches to deliver gene editing payloads to diverse cell types in vitro and in vivo.
• Support cell culture experiments for cell biology research, product development, technical product support, and/or process improvements.
• Prepare reagents, cell culture media, and bioreactors for team experiments.
• Present and discuss job activities to internal teams and groups.
• Calibration and maintenance of instrumentation and methods as necessary.
• Maintain and record data clearly and precisely.
• Modification of standard operating procedures as necessary.
• Order, receive, and maintain adequate inventory of supplies for team experiments.
• Support data acquisition and basic data analysis.
• Contribute to the preparation of data report summaries, formal reports and presentations.
• Support in the maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Support and lead in troubleshooting experiments.

Required Skills/Education

• Education: B.S. in molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, immunology, or a related field with at least 1 year of experience.
• Experience: Required: Hands-on molecular biology experience including cloning, plasmid preparation, and sequence analysis.
• Minimum of 1 years of molecular biology experience required.
• Knowledge of molecular biology and protein engineering methods
• Demonstrated experience in a collaborative scientific team.

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of Geneious software
