Summary:

The Compliance Manger will report to the Director of Research Integrity and primarily support Temple's Research Conduct of Research (RCR) program. The Compliance Manager will support matters of potential misconduct, including assigned inquiry and investigation activities, information sequestration procedures, and overall RCR program goals designed to create awareness and training in support of the responsible conduct of research. The Compliance Manager may have an opportunity to support other research compliance units, including investigating issues of non-compliance, program development and support related to research security, conflict of interest review and audit requirements, and assigned quality improvement and quality assurance projects.

Essential Functions:

Reports to the Director of Research Integrity, who will provide substantive leadership on all matters related to research misconduct and responsible conduct of research (RCR); Supports assessments related to allegations of misconduct in accordance with applicable policies and procedures, including Temple's Policy on Misconduct in Research and Creative Work; Documents and maintains all case information pursuant to the RCR program requirements; Assists the Director in supporting inquiry and investigation committee activities, including the facilitation of interviews and related communications, and managing schedules to meet case deadlines; Leads efforts to secure, catalog and prepare information in support of RCR activities or at the request of associated committees. Communicates and works with external agencies and organizations where appropriate, including federal agencies where federal regulations apply and other research institutions where such coordination is necessary; Develops the appropriate RCR programming, including education and training for faculty, staff, and students; ensures the provision of related resources to aid the Temple research community in conducting its research responsibly; Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in positions providing oversight on the ethical conduct of research and compliance with government regulations.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Experience with research compliance, preferably in an academic environment
*Experience managing quality assurance and compliance with program standards
*Experience working with partner organizations to achieve compliance requirements
*Demonstrated ability to build trust, resolve conflict, guide teams who are under pressure, foster collaboration, and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred:
*Master's degree or higher.

This position requires a background check.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
