Job/Internship Description

As an Intern working with our geotechnical group, you will reinforce your education through a practical, hands-on, paid work experience. You will be part of a dynamic, growing, and energized team - and your role is key to the success of ECS. While your job duties may fluctuate day to day, here are some areas we expect to see you grow in:

  • Assisting with performing and/or recommending lab testing
  • Assisting with foundation analysis and recommendations

  • Scheduling of drill rigs for geotechnical projects

  • Obtaining utility clearance for subsurface explorations

  • Assisting with determining appropriate subsurface exploration program and preparing drilling instructions

  • Classifying soil samples
  • Performing hand augers to obtain subsurface information and soil samples

  • Observing foundation or ground improvement installations


  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in civil engineering, geology, or related degree

  • Interest in how structures are supported and a desire to think outside the box

  • Previous internship experiene required

  • Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites - mileage will be reimbursed

  • Some serious GRIT and have no problem carrying 40 - 70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height
