Position Overview:


The Project Manager at Henkels and McCoy provides project related management for multiple large utility construction projects with an emphasis on power transmission and distribution projects throughout the US, Canada and Mexico. This position is accountable for all aspects of a project's success from the initial bidding process, to meeting or exceeding the clients' expectations and on through the profitable completion of the job. Additionally, this position provides direct support to other functional project teams in the planning and execution of the job including resolving issues, managing resources, project coordination, interfacing with client representatives regarding the project's progress, oversight of project accounting, training, mentoring and coaching. This position is part of the company's Project Management Office and is considered strategic within the organization. This position will report into the company's headquarters in Blue Bell, PA., with long and short term assignments determined by specified projects and the location of those projects.



Major Job Elements:
  • Manages overall project performance (scope, safety, quality, schedule, innovation, cost, and customer satisfaction).
  • Serves as single point-of-contact, establishing, maintaining and managing customer, subcontractor, and joint venture partner's expectations (where applicable) regarding overall project performance.
  • Reports project status and performance data as required to management and stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established Project Management Methodology (PMM).
  • Plans, monitors, and controls the project throughout its lifecycle.
  • At a given time could be involved in any combination of:
    • Running a major project from $50 to $100 million or several smaller projects.
    • Mentoring others in Henkels and McCoy's PMM. This PMM is based on PMI's PMBok.
    • Training/teaching Henkels and McCoy's PMM.
    • Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of Henkels and McCoy's PMM.
    • Assist in the marketing and business development activities as required.
    • Acts as sponsor for large projects.


Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in construction industry Project Management Methodology required.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills required.
  • Experience / knowledge of construction operations, power transmission / distribution design, financial acumen and team based management required.
  • 15+ years of relevant (power construction industry) Project Management experience required.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Thorough understanding of utility industry practices, operations, contract administration, contract management, and standards, with emphasis on power utility business required.
  • Proficient understanding of CPM scheduling and software applications (Primavera, MS Project) is required.
  • Significant travel will be required, as well as, the ability to commit to long-term on-site assignments.
  • BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related profession preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Work Environment:

The position of Project Manager at Henkels and McCoy requires the ability to work in an office setting, as well as, on active construction sites. This position includes, but is not limited to, significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces and, in general, is overall physically demanding.
